Henri Nouwen speaks well for me where he says, "I have to kneel before the Father, put my ear against his chest and listen, without interruption, to /files/Stuff/P1010008.jpgthe heartbeat of God. Then, and only then, can I say carefully and very gently what I hear. I know now that I have to speak from eternity into time, from the lasting joy into the passing realities of our short existence in this world, from the house of love into the houses of fear, from God's abode into the dwellings of human beings. I am well aware of the enormity of this vocation. Still, I am confident that it is the only way for me. One could call it the 'prophetic' vision: looking at people and this world through the eyes of God"  (The Return of The Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming).

From childhood I have been searching for God. My fervency was only exceeded by my blindness. Curiously, after I looked under many rocks and within many crevices—alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, self fashioned eclectic philosophies, agnosticism, and numerous religions, including, Kamasutra, Scientology, martial arts combined with Zen Buddhism, I AM Masters, Kristamurti's teachings, Theosophy—God graciously found me. I was 23 years old, and as can be seen by this sampling of events, I had a lifetime of experimentation by then.

After a number of halting starts at junior colleges, I completed my undergraduate work at Biola University (BS). I then completed graduate work at Talbot School of Theology, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Columbia Evangelical Seminary (Doctoral Certificate, MDiv). I also completed executive programs with UCLA Anderson School of Management (hosted at Howard University), The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and the Center for Creative Leadership. I am presently pursuing a PhD with North-West University/Greenwich School of Theology. I am an ordained minister through the Progressive Christian AllianceI am also a charter member of the International Society of Christian Apologetics and occasional clergy with Kairos Prison Ministry

I have been referred to as The Reverend, Rev., Minister, Pastor, Brother, Dr. D, Saba, etc. I am simply a child and servant of the living God. By my wonderful family, I am Papi, Daddy, Dad, Brother, and a number other endearments best left for personal discussions. Whatever respectful title or non-title gives you comfort is fine with me.

All this is back-seat, at best, to a pressing vision to assist seekers—many of whom seem, for the most part, to be missing the high and intimate calling of God—into a living and intimate relationship with God that will witness to a searching world. And so I answered the call to ministry, and most particularly as the founder of DeepLight Ministries.™ I retired after thirty years in corporate America and I have offered my gifts to God for ministry without the need for "tent-making" (Acts 18:3).

Our desire and work at DLM is to lead individuals and communities into an intimate, immediate, loving, rare, and vital relationship with Christ. It is our desire to serve Christ's church and its members in "beholding the glory of [our] Lord . . . [so that we might be] transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another" (2 Cor. 3:18c). Only God deserves our praise, and it is for him that we labor in love. We are "Serving Christ-Formation." ™
